This Weeks features artwork from Tomie, the debut work and one of the most iconic creations of horror manga artist Junji Ito. Using original illustrations that bring Junji Itos one-of-a-kind world to life, the artwork bridges nearly 40 years since his debut in 1987.

The Tomie – Haunting Beauty Weeks features an illustration of an illusory version of Tomie, born from a young girls intense admiration. Printed on a matte black cover, the image of Tomie is rendered using glossy silk screen printing to give it a subtle shine. The contrast between the two textures of black brings the artwork to life, capturing Tomies haunting beauty and allure.

This illustration is taken from theTomie: Hairchapter. To recreate the screen tone used in the original manga, shading has been added to her forehead and lips using fine dots. A thick layer of transparent ink has been used to express the lines that highlight her signature featuresher long, glossy black hair and the tear-shaped mole beneath her left eyecreating a shifting impression depending on the angle you view it from.

The back cover features an illustration of the scene where a girl discovers a bundle of hair stored in a paulownia box in her fathers study. It marks the beginning of the story, as she imagines the owner of this otherworldly, beautiful black hair. The luster of Tomies glossy hair is expressed using gold foil.
